Insurance

We recommend that you have both travel and dive insurance. For trips on liveaboards in Egypt and most dive centres around the world, you will be required to prove that you have insurance and/or leave your insurance number.

The first step is to check with your home insurance company to see if you are already covered, or can add coverage through them to a nominal price.   Quite often insurance is included when you choose to pay for your trip with a credit or bankcard. Ask your bank for more details of what is included.

Scuba Travel works together with Europeiska that can offer our clients the following:

Cancellation insurance Europeiska

The unexpected can always happen. Your child falls ill, too much work forces you to postpone your holiday, rain storms hit the sunshine paradise or trouble breaks out at your destination. In any of these situations, you will be very pleased you have cancellation insurance.

You will always get a refund, whatever the reason for your cancellation. How much you get back will depend on whether or not you have a certificate which confirms the reason for your cancellation.

With certificate: the full sum
If you can produce a certificate signed by an independent person or authority confirming an unforeseen event, we will pay you back the full sum. The term “unforeseen event” includes you or a close relative falling ill, an unexpected business trip you did not know about when you made your booking, or other serious events.

By ”certificate” we mean, for example, a medical certificate, a certificate issued by your employer or a link to the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s website, on which they advise people not to travel to the country you intended to visit.

No certificate: the full sum minus excess
If you cannot confirm the reason for the cancellation, we will still pay you back the full sum, minus the excess. The excess is 20 percent of your expenses, or a minimum of SEK 1,000.

Important: you must purchase the cover when you are due to pay for the trip/event!

Since the cancellation insurance is linked to a specific trip/event, you only have two days to sign up and pay for it – from the date on which the booking fee or deposit for the trip/event is due to be paid.

• Price per trip = 6 % of the value of the trip

Holiday insurance Europeiska

Europeiska offers customers an insurance that covers accidents occurring on adventure trips (ie. dive trips).  This insurance covers you should there be any damage to your sporting equipment, if you need to be rescued, if you become injured or if an unexpected event occurs.

If you are planning a short trip and already have home insurance, you will already have good basic cover. So rather than take out double insurance, your money will be better spent on improving your cover, e.g. to pay for a new trip should you fall ill and not be able to do what you had planned during your holiday.

If you have home insurance; expand your cover to include your travel arrangements. Here are some examples of what you can include:
•    New trip. If you fall ill or have an accident which prevents you from doing what you had planned during your holiday, you will receive compensation for ruined days. If more than half your trip was ruined, we will pay for a totally new trip.
•    Delay. We will pay you compensation if you or your luggage are delayed on the outward or return journey.
•    Catch-up travel. If you miss a connection because your flight or train was delayed, you will receive compensation, such as new tickets, to allow you to continue your trip.
•    Sports. You will receive compensation for destroyed or lost sports equipment, e.g. skis and diving kit. You will receive compensation if you have to hire equipment during your holiday. You will also be reimbursed for pre-paid activities, e.g. the cost of a ski-lift pass if you fall ill or are injured and unable to participate in the activities you had planned.
•    No excess. If you have to visit a doctor or hospital, your home insurance will not cover the excess. Our travel insurance policy will pay the full excess.
