Hurghada

Originally a fishing village, Hurghada today has developed into a world-class destination, with resorts managed by most of the world’s top hotel companies. Unlike other areas of the Egyptian Red Sea, Hurghada has kept its Egyptian charm.

Bordered by the desert and the Red Sea, tourists can stroll through the older markets, stopping to drink tea with the sellers or bargaining their way to a hand-woven carpet. Or take a drive through the outskirts of the town and see camels and sheep walking in the streets, older men sitting in small cafes smoking water pipes or the vast variety of local food vendors selling items that we in Scandinavia are just not used to. All of these cultural differences are what make Egypt an exciting destination.

However, Hurghada’s origins in the tourist market lie mostly in its quality as a diving destination. it is positioned by an area where the seabed shelves out for several kilometres, supporting numerous coral reefs and islands. This provides you with a choice of some fifty different dive sites, within the range of our powerful day diving boats.

Hurghada is an excellent destination for those of you that wish to experience more of what Egypt has to offer topside, as well as for non-divers and families. With shops, restaurants and bars close at hand, daily trips to Luxor or Cairo available, and other water and sports activities, there is always something to suit all tastes.
